JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- Dave Schreyer, a veteran of the Hooters

Tour, or Louis Brown, public course pro: who would hold on under

pressure in the final round of the Nestle Chilled Beverage

Georgia Open yesterday?

It was Brown, to his surprise above all others.

Manufacturing miracle shots for birdies to take the lead and

for pars to stay barely ahead, Brown shot a 68 at the Jekyll

Island Golf Club Oleander Course to win with an 18-under-par

270, one shot ahead of Schreyer (69) and four ahead of two other

Hooters Tour players, Rob McKelvey (71) and Kevin Blanton (71);

and Adam Thomas of Baxley, Ga., (70).

Brown, a former All-American at the University of Georgia, won

$13,000. But to do it, he had to battle himself as well as

Schreyer on the final two holes.

After driving into the woods at the par-4 17th hole, and

punching out, Brown had a 90-yard third shot and knocked it to

within 4 feet of the hole and made the putt. …
