The Glynn County Chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct

disaster training classes for volunteers interested in helping

with disaster relief. All classes are free and open to the

public. Registration is requested.

"Introduction to Disaster," which is mandatory before taking

other classes, will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 4. "Damage

Assessment" will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 5. "Emergency

Assistance to Families" is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 6.

The national Multiple Sclerosis Society is seeking participants

and volunteers for its 11th annual MS 150 Bike Tour on Sept. 27

and 28. More than 1,200 riders are expected to participate.

Riders will go from the Jacksonville zoo to Jekyll Island on

Sept. 27 and return to the Jacksonville zoo on Sept. 28. Each

leg of the trip usually takes five to seven hours.

Registration is $27, and riders are asked to raise at least

$150 in pledges. Registration fees include beverages and snacks

along the route, overnight camping, transportation of luggage

and a party at Jekyll Island on Sept. 27.

Volunteers are needed to serve food, direct traffic and handle
