Late-Rising Suns Pull out Victory

After starter Matt Drews gave up two runs in the top half of the

first inning, the Jacksonville Suns were greeted with something

they don't often hear at Wolfson Park. Boos.

But what the 2,743 in attendance forgot last night was that the

later innings mean more to the Suns.

The Suns have consistently been outscored through the first

five innings all season but tend to reverse the margin of

difference the last four innings.

Jacksonville (18-14) followed suit in last night's 5-4 win

against Memphis when the Suns rallied for four runs in the

bottom of the eighth. It was highlighted by a two-out, three-run

double by Julio Bruno.

"I think it [being down] lights a fire under this team late in

the game," Bruno said. "We have a lot of confidence on this

team. We're not worried if we're two or three runs down early

and that's a good attitude to have on this team. We've got

players who can run and other players who can hit home runs. …
