Weather: Temperatures in the low 90s.

Play of the day: Reggie Barlow beat Aaron Beasley for a long

touchdown in the 7-on-7 drills.

Catch of the Day: TE Derek Brown made a over-the-shoulder catch

of a deep pass in the morning practice.

Hit of the Day: LBs Bryan Schwartz and Tom McManus made a big

hit on Randy Jordan in the goal-line drill.

Run of the Day: In the 9-on-7 drill, Natrone Means juked Chris

Hudson and made a nice run around left end.

Injury Report: Deon Figures, slight ankle sprain; Dave Thomas,

slight hamstring pull.

Who's Hot: Rookie DT Seth Payne has continued to impress with

his strength; LB Al Wallace batted away a pass in man coverage;

DT John Jurkovic made several plays in the 9-on-7 drills in the

morning; WRs Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell continue to look


Who's Not: During the goal-line drill, the defense allowed three

easy scoring passes. The offense didn't get much push at the

point of attack in the goal-line drill. After two good days,

rookie Damon Jones struggled in the morning practice.


The idea of practicing in shorts and helmets Tuesday was to

revitalize the team for yesterday's practice.

It appeared to work.

During the morning practice, the team appeared livelier and

coach Tom Coughlin was pleased with the physical nature of the

practices. The team worked on goal-line offense -- both going in

and out -- for the first time yesterday. In the afternoon, the

Jaguars worked on blitz drills.

"I'm encouraged by the contact this morning," Coughlin said.

"The tempo picked up with the 9-on-7 and after that the practice

went pretty good."


As Means talked yesterday, he was leaking water.

It's not what you think.

Means has a tendency to get really sore ankles, so as a

preventative measure, he wraps his ankles in ice after every

practice. …
