OHIO MAN DIES IN CRASH

An Athens, Ohio, man died yesterday when the truck he was

driving crashed on Interstate 95 north of Brunswick, officials

said.

The wreck occurred about 12:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes of

the highway about one-half mile north of the Georgia 99 exit,

the Georgia State Patrol said.

The man was pulling a trailer with the 1989 Ford pickup truck

he was driving alone, the Patrol said.

Glynn County Coroner Jimmy Durden said the 50-year-old man was

taken to Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he was

pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. of head and internal injuries.

Durden and the State Patrol declined to identify the man

pending notification of his next of kin. There were no other

injuries and the accident remains under investigation, the

Patrol reported.

GLYNN HABITAT WORKERS

Habitat for Humanity of Glynn County is looking for volunteers

to build a house in Brunswick between tomorrow and April 5.

Habitat needs at least 30 skilled and semi-skilled volunteers

to work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily on a house that is being

built in memory of Ed Pinckney, a community leader who died

suddenly in November.

The house is being built at 1723 Stonewall Street in Brunswick.

Volunteers can work hours that suit their own schedules and

should call the Habitat office at (912) 265-7455. Lunch will be

provided for workers.

DEFRAYING TEST COSTS

With a $700,000 appropriation from the legislature in hand, the

state school board agreed yesterday to help defray the costs

some high school students incur when they take advanced

placement tests that can reward them with college credit. …
