Article excerpt

Joe Greco traveled to Las Vegas at the end of January to bowl at

Showboat Lanes in the "40 and over High Rollers Tournament." As

it turned out, he was the last bowler to enter the tournament,

Larry Huffman of Ohio.

Greco lost the final of the single elimination tournament

216-189.

The field was cut to the top 100 after three days of

qualifying. At that point, match play began, cutting the field

in half after each game, until they got down to the final two

bowlers. Greco's match-play record was 6-1. He finished 36th in

the same tournament last year.

For his efforts, Greco earned $15,000, the biggest payday by

the tournament while his opponents averaged 200 against him.

The right-hander was elected to the Greater Jacksonville

The 37-year veteran also rolled games of 206 and 253 for a 759

series. He is bowling in two leagues and carrying a composite

220 average.

16-YEAR-OLD STRIKES PERFECTION -- James Carroll III moved up

from the YABA League to the ABC Leagues at the age of 16. He has

already made his mark, as last Monday he rolled his first
