Sharks Seeking Soccer Players

The Jacksonville Sharks soccer club is holding tryouts at 6:30

p.m. June 10 and 16 at the District 2 park in East Arlington. An

additional tryout may be held at 2 p.m. June 28.

The Sharks will field an under-13 team for the fall and spring

seasons and club President Mel Ward said "there is a 99 percent

probability that there will also be an under-10 team. We'll be

better able to determine that after tryouts."

Formed in 1995 and a member of the Florida Youth Soccer

Association (FYSA), the Sharks are an advanced traveling team

that plays against eight to 12 clubs each season. Sharks players

are mostly from the Beaches, Arlington and Southside. The Sharks

compete within the North Florida Youth Soccer League, which also

includes clubs in Gainesville, Lake City, Ponte Vedra Beach,

Orange Park, Arlington and two other Jacksonville-based clubs,

Jacksonville Youth Soccer and the Jaguars.

The Sharks' training program is coordinated by the Graduated

Soccer Institute, which specializes in individual and team

soccer training. …
