Clay Man Faces Life in Sex Assault

Article excerpt

After being raped and sodomized last year for more than two

hours off a dirt road near Blanding Boulevard, a 33-year-old

woman said her attacker told her she was free to go.

But Larry Edward Bell Sr. won't be free to go anywhere except

prison after a jury found him guilty Friday on three counts of

sexual battery and kidnapping.

Bell, a 42-year-old former convict, will return to Circuit

Judge Robert Foster's courtroom on July 3 to be sentenced.

The Clay County man could be ordered to spend the rest of his

life in prison for the abduction and sexual assault on Nov. 14,

said Assistant State Attorney Homa Guy, chief prosecutor in the

case.

dragging me into the woods," she said. "I was begging him not to

hurt me. He said, '. . . you're going to do what I tell you to

do.' "

During the next two hours, she said, the man raped her,

performed cunnilingus on her, forced her to perform Rapist oral

sex on him twice and threw her facedown in the dirt while he

tried to have anal sex with her.

"He was calling me a slut and a whore and told me I deserved it

because I was a whore," she said tearfully.

Once, she tried to throw him off balance and escape, but he

grabbed her and began choking her, she said.

"He said he would kill me if I tried to do that again," she

said.

At one point, she said, she tried to reason with him.

"I told him I have two kids and I wanted to see them again,"

she said. …
