Detective Rebuts Principal, Believes Rape Victim's Story

Article excerpt

Despite doubts from some school officials, a 14-year-old girl

has remained consistent in her description of being abducted

from a Jacksonville school and raped last month, a police

detective said yesterday.

The girl says three men abducted her from a Raines High School

bus stop Oct. 2, then drove her to a house where one of them

raped her repeatedly.

"She told it to me just as she told it in the initial police

report," detective O.A. Harris said. "I have no information to

lead me to believe otherwise."

Principal Milton Threadcraft and other Raines officials, while

not denying that the girl was raped, have said she could not

have been abducted from the bus stop as she said.

The girl told police she was forced into a car at the circular

bus stop behindthe school where buses line up to drop off and

pick up students. Harris said the girl has described her

assailants but that she couldn't identify them. The case remains

under investigation, Harris said.
