RISON LIKELY TO MISS GAME

The hamstring injury sustained by Jaguars WR Andre Rison

against the Saints four days ago likely will keep him out of

Sunday's game against the Jets, Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin said

yesterday.

"It looks like he's going to be a problem for this week,"

Coughlin said.

Rison sustained the injury in the first quarter in New Orleans,

and on the Jaguars' injury report, he is listed as doubtful.

Elsewhere, the Jaguars' injury situation is not so bleak. DE

Jeff Lageman, out since Week 3 with a knee injury, said he will

try to play against his former team. "If it's ready, it's

ready," he said. "If it's not, I'm not going to push it just

because it's the Jets."

QB Mark Brunell -- who sustained a bruised knee against New

Orleans -- said, "It's a little sore today, but I shouldn't have

any problems. It's going to be fine on Sunday."

Also, DT Kelvin Pritchett did not practice yesterday because of

a groin injury, but is listed as probable.

I GUARANTEE IT -- ALMOST

Rison may be out, but it doesn't mean he's not confident about

the game, and it sure doesn't mean he's keeping quiet.

"Nine times out of 10, we'll beat the Jets at home," Rison said

this week. "It's hard to win in Jungleland," he added, referring

to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.

Rison, in past years with past teams, has guaranteed victories

in the weeks leading to games. Last year, he guaranteed a Browns

victory over the Jaguars while playing for Cleveland. The

Jaguars won the game.

He was asked if what he said about the Jets was a guarantee.

"When I make a guarantee," he said, "I make a full guarantee."

CONFIDENCE BOOST

Jaguars RB Natrone Means feels better now than he did last

week. And he felt better then than the week before.

It's all part of the process of returning from an injury with a

new team.

"Overall, it's gotten better," said Means, who was acquired by

the Jaguars off waivers in March. …
