Danny Ford was watching ESPN the other night when a fact about

the Arkansas Razorbacks flashed on the screen.

The Hogs, SEC West Division champions, are off to an 0-2 start

for the first time in 23 years, and have now lost five in a row

dating to last season -- their longest losing streak since 1990.

Ford then looked at this week's opponent, Division I weakling

Northeast Louisiana, and got a sick feeling. NLU (2-2) has

beaten an SEC team each of the last two seasons -- Kentucky in

1994 and Mississippi State in 1995.

"We'd better get our minds on our business this week, or we'll

be 0-3 in a heartbeat," Ford said. "And then we'll be struggling

and wondering. . . . And that can happen. It's very real."

Then it would be winless Arkansas playing host to No. 1 Florida

next week, something no one associated with the program wants to

see -- especially with the team only a year removed from the SEC

Championship game.

"We just need to play with the same intensity against Northeast

as we did against Alabama," said junior defensive end Ken

Anderson said. "If we do, we'll get our first victory."

LSU: Stopping Auburn's two-point conversion last week brought

back memories of LSU's 17-16 victory over Auburn in 1970 in

Tiger Stadium.

That day, LSU linebacker Mike Anderson stopped Auburn running

back Mickey Zofko's plunge for what would have given Auburn the

two-point conversion for the win. Anderson has gone on to become

a rich man by opening a chain of seafood restaurants in

Louisiana called "Mike Anderson's."

One of the specialtiesis "The Guitreau" -- grilled fish with

sauteed crawfish, shrimp, crabmeat and mushrooms in white wine

sauce, served with a stuffed potato, salad with house dressing

and a cup of gumbo. Restaurants are located in Baton Rouge, New

Orleans and Shreveport, in case you're wondering. …
