Brad Scott has heard it all, and still can't understand the

commotion of all the promotion.

The coach at South Carolina, Scott has a corny, cliched response

to Tennessee fever sweeping the Southeastern Conference: Beware

of the sleeping giant.

"I can understand all the hype with Tennessee; they're a very

talented football team," Scott said. "But I don't think you can

dismiss a team like Florida, with the talent and coaching they

have.

"That would be a big mistake."

Dismissed or not, the Volunteers -- not Florida -- have been

the preseason talk of the SEC. Nearly every pundit has picked

Tennessee to win the conference.

Forget about Florida's three consecutive SEC titles and four in

six seasons. Don't worry about its 13-game conference winning

streak, or that it returns a majority of starters from last

year's team.

At the very least, it'll make for one of the season's more

anticipated games on Sept. 21 in Knoxville.

"I don't really know what it's like to be the favorite in this

conference -- I'm not sure many besides Florida do," said

Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer. "But we're going to find out come

the middle of September. …
