FSU's Salazar Hits for Cycle

Jeremy Salazar became the first Florida State baseball player to

hit for the cycle in more than 10 years, leading the Seminoles

to a 16-4 thrashing of Georgia Tech last night at Howser

Stadium.

Salazar finished off his eight-RBI performance with an RBI

single in the sixth, bringing the crowd of 2,398 to its feet,

but first had to quiet teammate Adam Faurot.

"I told him [Faurot] to shut up," Salazar said. "We've had a

lot of streaks this year, and all of them have fallen short."

FSU's Atlantic Coast Conference win streak, however, continued.

The Seminoles (38-8, 16-0 ACC), who never have won more than 16

regular-season ACC games, can equal the best start in league

history by beating the Yellow Jackets (28-16, 8-8) tonight.

FSU left-hander Randy Choate improved to 12-2, scattering six

hits over seven innings.

Salazar, a sophomore, began his career night with a three-run

double off the right field fence in the first inning. …
