Weather: 26 degrees, sunny.

Play of the day: Midway through the second quar-ter, Jaguars S Chris Hudson recovered a fumble by Jets RB Curtis Martin and returned it 47 yards. At the end of the return, however, Hudson tried to lateral. The ball came loose and the Jets recovered.

Catch of the day: On the final play of the first half, Jaguars WR Jimmy Smith ran past Jets CB Otis Smith and beat him for a 52-yard touchdown re-ception. Smith bobbled the ball at first, then hung on and rolled into the end zone to cut the Jets lead to 17-7.

Run of the day: Early in the third quarter, the Jaguars got back in the game when kick returner Reggie Barlow returned a kick-off 88 yards to the Jets 4. The Jaguars scored a touchdown four plays later to pull to within 10, 24-14.

Hit of the day: On the Jets' final scoring drive of the first half, QB Vinny Testaverde threw to WR Keyshawn Johnson, who caught the pass for an 18-yard gain, but was leveled by Jaguars S Donovin Darius.

Turning point: Late in the fourth quarter, the Jaguars had rallied from a 17-point deficit to make it 31-24. On third-and-14 from the Jets 30, Testaverde passed to Johnson over the middle for a 20-yard gain and a critical Jets first down.

Injury report: No injuries reported on either team.

Player of the game: Jets WR Keyshawn Johnson caught nine passes for 121 yards and rushed twice for 28 yards. He caught a touchdown and ran for another, and intercepted Brunell's last pass of the game.



Jaguars DT John Jurkovic likely played his last game for the Jaguars yesterday.

Jurkovic, a fan favorite, is an unrestricted free agent after the season and likely will be signing elsewhere. The Jaguars have made him an offer, but Jurkovic said the offer wasn't good enough. …
