Following are crimes and other incidents reported recently in Mandarin to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Battery:

A 35-year-old Mandarin man was arrested Monday on a warrant for battery after police said he attacked his wife the day before in the 3700 block of Karissa Ann Place West.

Police said the man grabbed the woman's hair after an argument at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, then hit her in the face, pinned her to the ground and hit her again. When the woman tried to call police, the report indicates the man broke the telephone. All of this was done in front of the couple's 2- and 5-year-old children. Police also said they charged the man with possession of marijuana after they found a small bag of the drug.

A 26-year-old Macclenny man was arrested Nov. 19 on battery charges after police said he dragged a woman across a parking lot in the 11400 block of St. Augustine Road. Police said the man was seen dragging the woman by her hair at 7:30 p.m. Police said when they tried to stop the man, he resisted arrest, and the officer had to shove the man into his police cruiser.

A 39-year-old Mandarin man was arrested Nov. 19 on battery charges after police said he attacked his girlfriend in the 11300 block of San Jose Boulevard. Police said the two were arguing at 7:50 p.m. when the man head-butted the woman in the face, then "began throwing the victim around inside the house." Police said the man fled before they arrived, but was found at his office on San Jose Boulevard and arrested.

A 17-year-old Mandarin boy was arrested Nov. 18 on battery charges after police said he hit a security guard at Mandarin High School, 4831 Greenland Road. Police said the boy was arguing with school staff at 9:45 a.m. when he was ordered into the dean's office and refused to go. As he walked away, police said, the guard tried to stop him and the student hit him with a book bag. The boy was arrested at the school, police said.
