FOLKSTON, Ga. -- The "A-D team" was in action Saturday night in Charlton County's 28-3 Class A quarterfinals victory over Bowdon.

But if dual quarterbacks and wide receivers/defensive backs Bama Adams and Kevin Davis were the difference on offense, the Indians' defense is what got Charlton to its first state semifinals game since 1992, when ironically, it lost to Bowdon 32-27.

The Region 2-A champion Indians (12-1) will play Region 1-A No. 3 seed Miller County (11-2) at noon Friday in the Atlanta Georgia Dome.

One of the biggest cheers of the night from the estimated 3,000 fans at Indian Stadium came as the clock ticked down in the fourth quarter and the public address announcer announced that all Charlton County public schools would be closed Friday to allow Indians fans time to get to Atlanta for the game.

"Our defense did a great job," Charlton coach Rich McWhorter said of a unit that gave the Indians breathing room late in the third quarter on a 62-yard touchdown inteception return by linebacker Marquis Elmore that put the hosts up 21-3 with 2:07 left in the period. …
