REVIEWS

Bowen Estate Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, $34. This should be drunk no sooner than when negative gearing is scrapped, such is the benefit of cellaring cabernet. But who can wait that long? 9.1/10.

Bowen Estate Coonawarra Shiraz 2017, $34. Mercifully, shiraz is often much better when young than its cabernet brethren and election night would be about right. 9.2/10.

Max and Me Eden Valley Barossa Boongarrie Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, $50. Another cabernet you should drink at the 2022 election rather than the next but three years is a long time in wine and politics. Too long. 9/10.

Max and Me Eden Valley Barossa Boongarrie Vineyard Shiraz 2017, $60. This is so bright you could read by it, indeed brighter than many of our politicians. The member for Boongarrie has a nice ring to it. 9.2/10.

Mr Bright Side by Mr Riggs McLaren Vale Preservative-Free Shiraz 2018, $20. Mr Bright Side by Mr Riggs by Mr Crus, how many times can Mr appear on one label or in one review? Where are you, Mr Guinness? Likeable, light lunch fare. 8.7/10.

Mr Bright Side by Mr Riggs Adelaide 'Eurotrash', Tempranillo, Grenache, Petit Verdot, Lagrein, 2016, $20. Rough and ready but with some continental style. Good, fun grapes, perfect for Eurovision or MotoGP. 8.9/10,
