BOYFRIEND ARRESTED: A St. Johns County man whose girlfriend said she was tied up, choked, beaten and robbed has been arrested on attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and drug possession charges.

Albert Joseph Graham, 32, of the 100 block of Cross Cove Circle in Ponte Vedra Beach was arrested Sunday after his 44-year-old girlfriend escaped and called investigators.

The woman told investigators she was awakened shortly before noon Sunday because she was being choked. She said her assailant tied her up with a cord, tape and a leash and put a plastic bag over her head before choking her again with a cord and punching her in the face.

When Graham left the residence she was able to free herself, she said, and went to a neighbor's. She said a safe where she kept jewelry was opened and that some pieces were missing. The woman said jewelry also was taken from her hands and ears, said St. Johns County Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Kelshaw.

Graham, who witnesses said left in a taxi, was apprehended in the cab on Florida A1A at Corona Road. Deputies found eight foil wrappers of crack cocaine. Graham was being held without bond yesterday in the St. Johns County Jail. …
