Following are crimes and other incidents reported recently on

the Westside to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.


Police were called to Riverside Avenue and Stonewall Street

about 2:40 a.m. Monday by a man, 33, who said he had been robbed

by a man he met in a bar. The victim said he and the robber went

for a walk after they left the bar and stopped at a house to get

drugs. The victim said the robber then took money from his

pocket as well as his pager before fleeing on foot in an unknown



Police arrested a man, 26, and a woman, 31, on aggravated

battery charges after they attacked another man, 25, with a jack

handle in a dispute over a $100 debt. The incident happened

about 6:05 p.m. Sunday outside the home of the victim in the

8200 block of Buttercup Street. According to a police report,

the man and the woman, who live together in the 8800 block of

Vining Street, went to the victim's home to collect $100 they

said the victim owed them. The man got out of the car holding a

36-inch-long metal jack handle and struck the victim in the

head. When police arrived, the victim was bleeding from several

wounds on his head. The jack handle also contained blood. All

the participants had been drinking, police said.


A man, 41, was arrested on battery/domestic violence charges

about 8:50 p.m. Sunday after he pushed and punched his wife, 43,

during an argument in front of their three children, ages 11, 9

and 7. The incident happened at their home in the 100 block of

Lane Avenue South. The wife sustained a swollen lower lip.

Police say they will seek an arrest warrant for a man, 47, who

pushed and choked his girlfriend, 46, during an argument in

their home in the 2000 block of College Street about 9 p.m.

Sunday. The woman told police the couple argued about the man

looking at another woman while they were out. …
