1 THE Daily Mirror successfully campaigned earlier this year for the Government to change the law on organ donation. The new legislation is known as Max and Kiera's Law after 10-yearold Max Johnson, left, who championed the change, and the girl whose heart saved his life, nine-year-old Keira Ball.

The new legislation - which could save 700 lives a year - reverses rules so people are deemed to be donors unless they opt out.

2 WASHINGTON Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's uncovered the Watergate scandal which ended in the resignation of American President Richard Nixon in 1974 and the conviction and imprisonment of 43 others. The year before, Nixon had told a press conference "I am not a crook". Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford played the reporters in 1976 movie All The President's Men.

3 THALIDOMIDE, a drug prescribed to pregnant women for morning sickness, was revealed to be leading to birth defects and babies born with missing limbs. The Sunday Times came out with the front page Our Thalidomide Children, A Cause For National Shame in 1972 and the paper's long-running campaign led to millions of pounds in compensation being paid.

4 The Boston Globe's Spotlight investigation in 2002 reported on widespread abuse by Catholic clergy in the area and also revealed a cover-up of the scandal. It led to the five-strong press team being awarded a Pulitzer Prize and a film about the investigation followed in 2017 starring Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci.

5 SEVERAL newspapers in 2012 reported on a BBC's Newsnight investigation into allegations of sexual abuse surrounding Jimmy Savile that was never broadcast. ITV's Exposure: The Other Side Of Jimmy Savile brought the matter into the open the same year and Operation Yewtree was set up by the Metropolitan Police. …
