Ready for Next Stage; from Dancing in Paris to Motherhood, Morgan Kenny Is Preparing to Step Back in to Cabaret

The feathers and sequins are back and mum's jeans are out for former Moulin Rouge dancer Morgan Kenny -- and she couldn't be more excited.

Morgan, daughter of former ironman Grant Kenny and swimmer Lisa Curry, made a successful career as a showgirl and dancer, performing in the world's most famous cabaret in Paris.

When she and her husband Ryan Gruell found out they were pregnant, Morgan put aside her dancing career to focus on being the "best mum she could be".

Her son Flynn is now 15-months-old and the time has come for Morgan to bring her dancing shoes out of retirement as she gets set to perform in Cabaret de Paris at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane next month.

"I have been dying to get back on stage ever since my last performance when I was 15 weeks pregnant," she said.

"I was always determined to go back to dancing once I had my son and I'm just so excited that the time has come."

Morgan began dancing when she was 15 years old and dove in to full-time performing when she was 18.

By the time she was 20, Morgan was ready to try her luck in Paris and made the move to the city of love.

She began dancing two shows a day, seven days a week in the Moulin Rouge, where she made a name for herself as a professional showgirl.

Almost a decade later, married to her high-school sweetheart, mum to little Flynn and living at Alexandra Headland, Morgan said she had never been happier.

"I feel physically stronger than before I had Flynn and I have more of a sense of who I am," she said.

"I have definitely matured since having my son and I think that will help with performing on stage."

Morgan said while dancing was physically demanding, motherhood had definitely been her biggest challenge yet.

"Dancing is so easy in comparison really, you learn the steps and routines and you practise it. …
