Trinity Christian's Scott Commits to UF

Guss Scott of Trinity Christian Academy has made an oral commitment to the University of Florida. Scott, who led the Conquerors to a state championship appearance in December, will play cornerback at Florida. He chose the Gators over Notre Dame, Tulane and Pittsburgh.

"It's close to home, that's one of the main things," Scott said. "I want it to be easy on my mom to come watch me play, and Notre Dame was just too far."

Georgia and Georgia Tech also added commitments yesterday, with the Bulldogs getting tight end Andre Zellner from Forsyth Mary Persons, and Tech getting Nate Curry of Miami and Keron Koon of Mirimar.

Scott returned from an official visit to Notre Dame Sunday and said the distance and weather -- it snowed in South Bend while he was there -- were a prime factor. Scott rushed for more than 4,000 yards in his career at Trinity, including 1,900 as a senior, including playoffs. He was named to the Times-Union Super 24 and Super 75 teams. …
