Lives Entwined with St Peter's 150-Year History; Long-Time Parishioners Celebrate

Article excerpt

BETWEEN them, Mel Shaw, Val Deans, Narelle Hosking and Beryl Andreassen have seen decades of change at Gympie's St Peter's Anglican Church.

She and husband Bill will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary this Saturday - the day before St Peter's sesquicentenary celebration.

Mel Shaw, who was married in the old church in 1952, lived with her late husband Jim at Wolvi and for many years, before moving in to Gympie, travelled to town every Sunday for the 7.30am service at St Peters.

Christened and confirmed in St Peter's, Beryl Andreassen was also married there in 1961. …
