SATURDAY night saw some great talent at the Widgee Country Music Club's open mic session with Gary Crompton and Sue Williams warming up the crowd, followed by Jacinta Murphy, Linda Hansen, Darryl Searle, Ashley Williamson, Mr Jazz and the WCMC Band.

It was a very musical night with the audience crying out for more.

The music kept a' coming and the band kept a' playing - another fantastic event for the WCMC.

Widgee State School

IT WAS Teacher Aide Appreciation Day last Friday, with presentations made to every aide at assembly as a special thank you for their commitment and dedication to their work with our Widgee students. Recipients Jo Carter, Fay Hawkins and Sandi Smith were overwhelmed and very humbled with their awards.

Yesterday the P-2s attended an Under 8's day at Monkland School while Grades 5 and 6 attended a sports development day. This morning it's the annual fun run from 9.30am to about 11am. Parents and supporters are encouraged to come along and cheer students as they navigate the course and cross the finish line.

Widgee Pony Club

MEMBERS underwent intense training last Sunday, in preparation for the club's upcoming hack and hunter day on Sunday, September 29. Sponsored by Gympie Saddleworld and Country Clothing, all relevant details and registration information is available on their Facebook page.

Kicking off at 8am on the day, the event is another huge milestone for the club, attracting entries from throughout the Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast. Classes include led, rider classes and supreme champion. For further details contact Craig Johnson on 0498959913.
