Fan Who Wore Newcastle Shirt to Sunderland Match Is Banned

A CHEEKY football fan who wore a Newcastle United shirt when his team hosted Sunderland has been banned from going to matches for the rest of the season.

Season-ticket holder Simon 'Sid' Chanter, a well-known Lincoln City fan, wore the famous black and white for "a laugh" when his side hosted Sunderland on October 5. Later on, another fan took the shirt from the 35-year-old and waved it in front of the travelling supporters during the home side's 2-0 victory.

Now, Sid has received a letter from Lincoln City's stadium manager advising him he is no longer able to purchase tickets for home and away fixtures due to his "actions".

Sid insists it was only ever meant as a harmless prank among friends, and says he'll be gutted if can't return to watch his team play for the rest of the season.
