Job Applicant Claims Rape by Employee

An 18-year-old woman applying for a job at the Regency Lifestyle Vision Center on Atlantic Boulevard told Jacksonville police Tuesday she was raped by an office employee.

An employee was showing the woman around the business before pulling her into one of the offices. When she began to kick and scream, she was choked and her hands bound to a chair with tape. The man then took his sock off, stuffed it in her mouth, cut off her underwear with a razor and raped her.

He left the woman in the room while he went to wait on customers at the front counter of the strip mall office. When he returned, he starting crying because he feared the woman would tell police. The woman convinced him she wouldn't report the incident and was set free, police said. She reported the assault immediately after leaving. The woman was in the office from about 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The woman received numerous scrapes and abrasions and was treated by rescue personnel, police said.

Police arrested Romano Estrada, 21, of the 900 block of West Misty Mountain Drive on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment. …
