Time to Prepare for 'Fight Fraud in Florida Week'
The Jacksonville-based Northeast Florida Regional Office of the Comptroller is gearing up for "Fight Fraud in Florida Week" next month and is looking for business meetings and other events in which it can participate with speakers or display booths.
The Jacksonville office, headed by director Francis L. Loving, has four divisions which can provide speakers.
The Finance division regulates such businesses as mortgage brokers and lenders, consumer finance companies, debt collection agencies, commercial cemeteries and pre-need funeral providers.
The Banking division regulates state-chartered banks and credit unions and trust companies.
The division of Financial Investigations looks into fraud against the government, public corruption, securities and investment fraud, complaints against mortgage lenders and brokers, collection agencies and check cashers.
The Securities division regulates securities dealers, investment advisers and stock brokers.
Fight Fraud in Florida Week will be May 21 through May 27.
