U.S., Florida Flags Available through Department of State

********** CORRECTION September 16, 2000

A state of Florida flag available from the Department of State is available with a pole hem. Due to a reporter's error, the description was wrong in yesterday's Call Box column.

Dear Call Box: Do you know of a source of a flag for the state of Florida, about 2 feet by 3 feet? -- No name.

Dear reader: That's a new one. We usually get requests about U.S. flags that have flown over the U.S. Capitol. You can obtain information on those by calling the office of your local congressman. Phone numbers for their local offices are on Page 26 of the Jacksonville phone book.

By the same token, you can obtain official Florida flags flown over the state capitol in Tallahassee. Included with the flag is a presentation binder and certificate signed by the secretary of state. You can even request that the flag be flown on a particular date.

The Florida state flag with grommets, 3 feet by 5 feet, costs $42.50. A 2-foot-by-3-foot model with pole costs $33.50. A desk top version (4 inches by 6 inches) costs $5.50. There are other alternatives, too.

If you want the a flag flown over the capitol, please specify that. All flags are nylon.
