LOGAN GETS OPPORTUNITY

Mike Logan has waited for his chance. Now he has it.

The team's fourth-year safety, a 1997 second-round pick, will make his first NFL start Sunday at free safety. Logan will start in place of Rayna Stewart, who will be out 3-5 weeks with a knee injury.

"I've been patient," Logan said. "I knew my opportunity would come."

"It's time for Mike," Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin said.

As a rookie, Logan missed five games with a broken thumb and then missed 14 games last season with a fractured ankle. Marts has been bothered by an abdominal pull, but the reason he sat down Monday was because the team wanted to get a closer look at Slaughter.

Cowher, asked yesterday about the situation, said, "I really shouldn't comment," and when he did, he measured his words.

"It's just unfortunate that there are a lot of repercussions when things like that happen," he said.
