Fletcher High Opens New FACES School Tour

Article excerpt

Familiar FACES are scheduled to perform at Fletcher High tomorrow.

The teen acting troupe, Facts for Adolescents about Choice, Education and Sexuality, partnered with Planned Parenthood last summer to bring three performances on teen sexuality to Jacksonville. Now the Duval County School Board wants FACES to perform for area high schools. Fletcher is the first.

Duval County's Health Advisory Committee approved the play's script in its entirety. The only stipulations are that the troupe cannot show alcohol consumption or use profanity on stage.

"We really received no resistance from the school system," Lanier said. "Secrets does touch on some very controversial issues that we must approach cautiously, but I think that students aren't going to be shocked by the play's subject matter."

In the community performances, the acting troupe also held an audience question-and-answer session. …
