Article excerpt

Sean Freitag rolled the first perfect game of his 10-year bowling career recently in the Sunday Night Mixed League at Bowl America Orange Park. After scores of 171 and 203, the right-hander used a series of pocket shots en route to the 300 game for a 674 series.

"I was really nervous in the last frame, and on the last shot, the ball felt like it weighed a ton," Freitag said. "This is the best feeling I've ever had since I started bowling.

"This is like pitching a no-hitter in the World Series. It's awesome. I still smile every time I think about it."

His best previous effort was a 290 and he has a high series of 722. He is bowling in two leagues and carries a composite 180 average.

DOLISON ROLLS 299 -- Grady Dolison rolled a 299 game in the Jax Classic League early last month.

But a split on the first ball of the 10th frame ended his dream. He finished with a 215 game and a 789 series, his best three-game series.

The right-hander is bowling in two leagues, carries a 210 composite average and has rolled one 300 game.

FOSTER NEARLY PERFECT -- Gary Foster recorded his second honor score in the past two months recently in the Bowl America Men's Invitational League at Bowl America Southside.

After scores of 161 and 211, the right-hander rolled 12 solid shots in the final game before leaving a solid 10 pin on the final shot for a 299 game.

"I was a little nervous this time [comparing this to his 300 game two months ago], but it was hard to believe that I was in this position again for another honor score," he said. …
