Mandarin High School has won six Gateway Conference wrestling titles but not consecutively. Because of a reporter's error, a story on Page C-16 Sunday incorrectly said the school had won its sixth straight title.

Mandarin High coach Richard Brunowski wasn't satisfied with his team's sixth consecutive Gateway Conference wrestling title.

"This is definitely the toughest one by far," Brunowski said. "We didn't wrestle up to my expectations."

Mandarin, which hosted the meet, finished with a 189.5-160.5 edge over second-place Forrest. But the Mustangs held just a 23.5-point lead over the Rebels going into the finals, and Forrest placed seven wrestlers in the finals to Mandarin's six.

"Those [losses] were both very unexpected," Brunowski said. "But we'll just bounce back like we do every time something goes wrong."

The Mustangs' models of consistency, Eian Schnoor (112 pounds, 27-3) and Chase Truncale (152, 28-2), each won titles, as did Brandon Sessums (22-5) at 103-pounds. …
