Jet hijack gang 'wanted to reveal plight of Ethiopians' SIX hijackers armed with hand grenades and pistols seized a jetliner over Ethiopia and diverted it to Khartoum today, where they released all 50 passengers and then surrendered. One hijacker, who identified himself as a member of Ethiopia's air force, said they had seized the aircraft to "draw international attention to the terrible economic and political situation in Ethiopia and the lack of freedoms".
