A Special Time With a Storyteller will begin at 3:30 p.m. May 29 at the Hilliard branch library. Storyteller and musician Lynn Wadley will tell stories and play music from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Children and parents are welcome. Call 845-2495for more information.
Several Nassau County 4-H members won awards during a recent competition in Lake Butler in demonstration, public speaking, talent and fashion contests.
Daron Sharps of Fernandina Beach won a blue award and a first-place rosette for her demonstration in the companion animal category. Casey Williams of Fernandina Beach won a blue award for his speech about Greek mythology, and Matthew Simmons of Callahan won a blue award and first-place rosette for his speech on rabbits.
Senior members Matthew Dupuis and Raymond Forehand, both of Fernandina Beach, won a blue award and first-place rosette for their demonstration on chicken quesadillas. Zachary Williams and Jeffrey Dupuis, both of Fernandina Beach, won a red award for their illustrated talk on combustion. Ashley Darracott of Yulee won the district talent contest by performing her original song, Well Done My Child. They will represent Nassau County and District 4 in state competition in Gainesville in July.
Zachary Williams also was inducted as the new District 4 reporter for the 2001-02 4-H year.
