Eriksson Votes for Left-Winger

Heskey ENGLAND coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has elected to use Liverpool striker Emile Heskey out of position for tonight's World Cup qualifier against Greece.

Heskey will play on the left of midfield, despite looking unhappy there in England's 4-0 win over Mexico.

Steve McManaman, who missed that friendly at Derby because of club commitments with Real Madrid, was expected to return in place of Heskey for tonight's Group Nine clash.

However, Heskey has looked impressive in training and will be given the nod over McManaman, who was disappointing in his most recent England display, against Albania.

The only other change from the team which began against Mexico will see Arsenal's David Seaman replacing Nigel Martyn, of Leeds, in goal. Martyn looks likely to be one of the substitutes, who will also include Tottenham's Teddy Sheringham and Leeds striker Alan Smith.

Eriksson and his squad are expecting the atmosphere to be hostile in the Olympic stadium tonight but the 80,000-capacity venue will be less than half full. …
