THE millionaire rapper Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs - on trial in the US on bribery and firearms charges has infuriated animal rights groups for using fur in his fashion show after promising it would be a "fur-free" zone.

Officials at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) were so delighted when Combs said he would not use fur for the launch of his Sean John label that they sent him flowers. It is understood they will be returned.

At the show nearly half of the collection featured fur. Models sashayed down the catwalk in a lamb-suede sweatsuit partnered with a lynx-tail scarf, an ostrich-leather trenchcoat lined in mink, crocodile-skin suits and a pair of shorts fashioned from "curly lamb" - and yet more mink. The show's final flourish featured a mink kimono lined in fox fur.

Before the New York show on Saturday a spokesman for Combs said that he had eschewed fur for the label, which had sales of [pound]70 million in 2000. …
