Father May Sue Tommy Lee over Son's Death in Pool

Article excerpt

THE FATHER of the four-year-old boy who drowned at a children's birthday party thrown by Pamela Anderson's ex-husband Tommy Lee has accused him of failing to organise proper supervision for the children using the swimming pool.

Daniel Karven Veres was found floating face down in the shallow end of the swimming pool at the [pound]2 million Malibu mansion the Motley Crue drummer used to share with Ms Anderson.

Television producer James Veres, called his son's death - at a barbecue for Lee and Anderson's five-year old son Brandon inexcusable". He is considering taking legal action, and could sue Lee for a huge amount in civil proceedings, even though police have ruled it an accident.

"It was a birthday party like a million other birthday parties and obviously there wasn't enough help at the pool," said Mr Veres, who did not attend the party. "It's inexcusable and just amazing to me. I have lost my son.

"I have heard stories about my son wearing a flotation device, but I saw no evidence of one. I was told there was adult supervision."

A nanny was reportedly left watching the children as they swam in 90F sunshine on Saturday but she did not see Daniel get into difficulty due to the number of toys in the pool. Today the toys still covered the surface of the pool.

"I don't know what I am going to do next," said Mr Veres, who is married to German actress Ursula Karven. "My son is dead. I am meeting with the police to find out exactly what happened."

Daniel was reportedly playing happily with other children minutes before he was noticed lying lifeless in the water. Two parents dragged him from the water and tried to give him the kiss of life while Lee rushed inside to call an ambulance. But the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby Malibu hospital.

Police did not reveal whether Ms Anderson, or Dylan, her three-year-old son with Lee, attended the party. …
