Police Briefing Sleeping Driver Also Gets Pot Possession Charge

A 25-year-old man was arrested at 2:30 a.m. July 21 in the 8000 block of Atlantic Boulevard and charged with possession of marijuana and with obstructing traffic.

Police said the man was asleep at the wheel of his still-running car with his foot on the brake. Motorists were driving around the car, which reeked of marijuana smoke, according to a police report.

-- A 24-year-old man was arrested at 9:12 p.m. July 20 at Home Depot, 9025 Regency Square Blvd. N., and charged with forgery.

Police said the man used a fake identification to try to write a check for two $100 gift certificates and other items at the store. When a scan of the check indicated a problem and the cashier asked for more identification, the man tried to leave the store, according to a police report.

Store workers struggled with the man and held him until police arrived.

The arrested man told police that men he met at a nightclub provided him with counterfeit checks and that he purchased fake IDs at a flea market. …
