Average Prices Rise [Pound]7,000 in 3 Months

THE price of the average house in England and Wal e s increased by nearly [pound]7,000 during the second quarter of the year, figures reveal today.

Data from the Land Registry show that during the three months to the end of June the average house price rose from [pound]110,570 to [pound]117,398.

At the end of June, average annual house price inflation was running at 10.83 per cent, while in some areas prices

were up by nearly 16 per cent on the previous year.

The volume of sales also increased, rising 14.62 per cent to 266,536 sales for the three months to the end of June, compared with [pound]232,548 during the same period last year.

The Midlands saw the biggest rise in prices. In the East Midlands, the average price rose by
