HOKE MUST MARSHALL MORE WEAPONS

Playing former Division I-AA chamption and four-time MAC champion Marshall instead of a typical cupcake opponent in the season opener presents UF defensive coordinator Jon Hoke with an interesting challenge.

Unlike last season's opener against Ball State, when Hoke said the Gators used two defenses the whole game, Florida is going to have to use more formations, stunts, coverages and blitzes to combat the Thundering Herd's explosive offense.

The result is that Tennessee might get an early peek at a few wrinkles they wouldn't have seen until Week 3.

"We're not going to hold anything back like we have in the past. We're going to play our stuff," Hoke said. "In the past, we've been a little bit hesitant to do that, but in a game like this with an opponent like this, we just need to go out there and attack them as much as we possibly can. …
