Youth Gouges out Man's Eye on Bus

A MAN had his eye gouged out in a horrific assault on a bus in Vauxhall, police revealed today.

The 30-year-old security worker had tried to intervene in a row on the number 36 bus on Vauxhall Bridge but was attacked and held down by a group of four youths.

One teenager then tried to gouge the man's eyes out with his bare hands.

The victim was rushed to hospital where one eye had to be removed. Doctors are now battling at the hospital to save the sight in the other eye.

The incident has shocked police, who have appealed for help in tracing the assailants involved in the assault which took place at the weekend.

One detective said: "These youths were throwing food around the bus and this guy just said, "Come on, calm down'." For trying to intervene he lost his eye. This was a sick attack."

Police are interviewing a number of witnesses on the number 36 bus, which was crowded at the time of the assault at 7. …
