Why?

We have all become accustomed to the idea of hotels having "destination restaurants", such as St Martin's Lane and the Metropolitan's Nobu, but West Street takes that concept and stands it on its head. The brainchild of Chris Bodker, Rowley Leigh and Marion Scrutton (whose current portfolio of restaurants includes Kensington Place, The Avenue and Launceston Place), West Street not only houses two restaurants, a bar and a screening room but also has three very impressive guest rooms. The ground-level restaurant with a wood-fired oven is called, simply, Downstairs. Its rather grander sister restaurant on the floor above is called, of course, Upstairs. Topping and tailing the two restaurants are the basement bar and the Blue Room: a seriously sleek screening room ideal for meetings, private dining and receptions.
