Police Briefing 2 Men Rob Hess Mart on San Jose

Two men stole an undetermined amount of cash Monday from the Hess Mart at 10141 San Jose Blvd., although police don't known if the duo was armed.

Police said two men, one wearing a black hood and the other with a black handkerchief over his face, walked into the store at 3:28 a.m. One went right to the clerk, saying, "We are not playing" while nudging him toward the counter. The clerk opened the cash register and handed over paper money to one intruder while the other grabbed rolls of coins. Then both men fled.

Following are the crimes and other incidents reported recently in Mandarin and Northwest St. Johns County, according to the Jacksonville and St. Johns County sheriff's offices:

DUVAL COUNTY

AGGRAVATED BATTERY:

14000 block of St. Augustine Road -- A 27-year-old Mandarin man was arrested at 10:15 a.m. Monday on a charge of aggravated battery after police said he hit a 38-year-old Green Cove Springs man in the arm with a shovel during an argument, then hit his car.

BATTERY:

5000 block of Taylor Creek Road -- A 43-year-old Mandarin man was arrested at 8:40 p.m. Sunday on a charge of battery after police said he grabbed his wife during an argument and they both fell.

Parking lot at 10550 St. Augustine Road -- A 19-year-old Southside man said he was attacked by four people at 4:30 a.m. Sunday as he was leaving a store there.

3700 block of Barbizon Circle South -- A 39-year-old Atlantic Beach woman was arrested at 1:50 p.m. Sept. 22 on a charge of battery after police said she jumped on, then scratched her ex-husband during an argument.

BURGLARY:

14000 block of Mandarin Road -- A television and four power tools valued together at $1,124 were stolen between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 22 and 7 a.m. Monday.

4400 block of Forest Haven Drive South -- Two televisions valued together at $2,950 were stolen between 4 p.m. Sept. 22 and 5 p.m. Sunday.

GRAND THEFT:

4200 block of Hillwood Road -- Two well pumps valued together at $1,721 were stolen from a house between 5:30 p. …
