ARSENAL'S England midfielder Ray Parlour looks certain to become a target for West Ham if they lose Trevor Sinclair to Sunderland.

West Ham have yet to grant Sinclair's transfer request but it seems certain the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder will be allowed to go.

The Upton Park club value Sinclair, 28, at [pound]10million and would need around [pound]7m of that to tempt Arsenal into parting with Parlour, who recently signed an extension to his contract at Highbury.

Roeder may decide, however, that he needs to spend the money on more than one player.

The West Ham manager still believes his squad is short on strength in depth and may bring in at least two players with the revenue from a Sinclair transfer.

Roeder said: "I'm very uncomfortable talking about players who are with other clubs but I've always been an admirer of Ray Parlour."

Roeder was also today expecting experienced Croatian international defender Robert Jarni to arrive for a trial period.

Jarni, one of Croatia's star players in the 1998 World Cup, has been told he can leave Spanish club Las Palmas on a free transfer and West Ham were hoping the 32-year-old left wing back would be arriving in the next 24 hours.

Roeder said: "As far as we understand the player is excited about the prospect of coming here to train. Our guess is that he would have talked to his former international colleagues Igor Stimac, Davor Suker and Slaven Bilic.

"Apparently Las Palmas are in serious financial difficulty and the players there haven't been paid for some time. At 32 he's not old and he is a real talent.

Hopefully we've secured the first look at him."

Good news for Roeder is that Northern Ireland international midfielder Steve Lomas is on his way back following a serious knee injury. …
