Many businesses and agencies are collecting donations to aid relief after the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, including:

-- American Red Cross in Jacksonville. Donations should be made to The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and sent to: The American Red Cross, 751 Riverside Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32204. American Red Cross donation canisters also will be available at Food Lion stores in Georgia and Florida and Publix stores in Florida. Donations can be made over the phone by calling 1-800 HELP NOW.

-- The United Way, with the New York Community Trust. Donors can send money directly to: The Sept. 11th Fund, c/o United Way, 2 Park Ave., New York, NY 10016. Donations by credit card also can be made at the United Way of New York City's Web site by going to, keyword: bombing fund.

-- The Florida Fire & Emergency Services Foundation. Individuals can go to any SunTrust Bank and make a tax-deductible donation. Checks should be made payable to Florida Fire Emergency Service Fund Inc. Note on the check: NYC Fire & Emergency Services Relief Fund. Mail checks to Florida Fire & Emergency Services Foundation, 821 N. U.S. 1, Suite B, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. For more information, call (386) 676-2744.

-- The Clay County Chamber of Commerce/American Red Cross. The agency is accepting monetary donations for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Checks or money orders are to be made out to the American Red Cross and can be dropped off or mailed to the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, 1734 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073. Mark the check "Disaster Relief." For information, call (904) 264-2651.

-- Winn-Dixie. The supermarket chain's "Even-it-Up" program has been set up for customers who wish to contribute to the American Red Cross by asking their cashier at checkout to "even it up." The cashier will round off their grocery bill to the next whole dollar amount and the extra will be donated to the American Red Cross. …
