MISSING TAXI DRIVER MAY BE IN MISSOURI

The Gator City taxi driver reported missing from Jacksonville on Tuesday may have been sighted at a hotel in Missouri with her boyfriend, police said yesterday.

Lt. Rick Graham said 27-year-old Patricia Ann Moon and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Richard Allen Snyder, will remain listed as missing, but police have second-hand information that the couple may be in the St. Louis area. Police there are showing photographs of the couple to hotel employees, Graham said.

The cab was found in Howard Peoples Park in Kingsland on Tuesday. The keys, a cellular phone and Snyder's wallet were locked inside, and the lights and radio still were on. Finding the abandoned cab initially gave police a reason to suspect foul play.

Moon's father, Jeff Ball, was relieved yesterday to hear the prospects.

"We were thinking she was in a ditch somewhere in Georgia," he said from his New York home. "I don't know what she's thinking, what she's doing, what's going on."

SHOPPING OPTIONS GROW IN, AROUND ATLANTA

ATLANTA -- A day before metro Atlanta's newest mega-mall was to open, developers announced plans to build a large shopping center near Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood.

Lindbergh Plaza, an aging strip mall near the now-closed Gold Club, will be replaced with an 800,000-square-foot shopping center, making it bigger than nearby Phipps Plaza mall.

Yesterday, the 1.2 million-square-foot mall Discover Mills was to open in suburban Gwinnett County.

Lindbergh Plaza will open in 2004 or 2005, according to developer Sembler Co. of Florida.

Discover Mills has about 200 stores and restaurants.
