Restaurant Chain Plans First Eatery at Regency O'Charley's Wants to Add 8 to 11 Sites

Nashville, Tenn.-based restaurant chain O'Charley's Inc. has announced plans to open its first restaurant in Jacksonville next year.

Les Lockhart, director of development for O'Charley's, said the chain will build its first restaurant near Regency Square mall in fall 2002.

"It's a good, vibrant town," Lockhart said about the company's decision to settle on Jacksonville.

This is the only new market that the chain will be expanding into next year, and it will be the fourth city in the state to have an O'Charley's. The other restaurants are in Destin, Panama City and Pensacola.

Lockhart added that Jacksonville is also a nice fit because it is growing and falls within the chain's distribution radius, enabling it to make at least two deliveries a week to its locations.

O'Charley's, founded in 1984, operates 160 casual-dining, full-service restaurants in 14 states in the Southeast and Midwest. …
