ADAM CROZIER, chief executive of the Football Association, was due to meet with England Under-21 manager David Platt in London today to discuss the international fate of Chelsea defender John Terry.

Although Chelsea managing director Colin Hutchinson has urged the FA not to rush into a "knee-jerk reaction" to the assault and affray charges facing Terry, the FA is likely to announce this week that the 21-year-old will not be available for the national team until legal proceedings are concluded.

Terry is due to appear at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning for a remand hearing.

The charges relate to allegations of an attack on a bouncer at the Wellington, a Knightsbridge drinking club, in the early hours of Friday morning.

Despite being detained by police for most of Friday Terry played as a substitute in Chelsea's 0-0 draw at Norwich in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday and is expected to play on Wednesday, after the court hearing, in the Worthington Cup semi-final, first leg against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. …
