Fletcher Takes 2-1 Victory

JACKSONVILLE BEACH -- Sophomore forward Jay Mainville scored the winning goal in Fletcher's 2-1 victory over Orange Park last night at Jack Taylor Stadium.

Mainville's score, at 73:41 on an assist by Michael Wolfel, lifted the 16-1-1 Senators, past the 21-2-2 Raiders. Mainville returned to the lineup for the first time in four games after suffering an ankle injury.

The Senators took a 1-0 lead at 24:10 when Ben Allen's corner kick was headed-in by Chris Crider.

Orange Park senior captain Michael Green tied the game at 49:30 with an assist by Felipe Munoz. The Raiders put on a furious assault in the game's final two minutes with Fletcher keeper Jason Swank making a diving save.

"It could have gone either way," Fletcher coach Ricky Medlock said. "We had a sloppy field tonight and that hurt both teams. It was a good, hard-fought, typical, one-goal Fletcher-Orange Park game. When they scored that goal in the second half, I thought we were going to lose momentum. …
