Parents Offering Wisdom, Enrichment and Resources (POWER) is a support group for parents of children with behavioral and learning disorders such as ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, anxiety, depression and the like. The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd., from 7 to 9 p.m. POWER features professional speakers and a wealth of information regarding various disorders and special education.

POWER was instrumental in scheduling Ross Greene, author of The Explosive Child, for a one-day seminar to be held Feb. 15 at the Radisson Riverwalk. The seminar is called "Explosive/Noncompliant Children and Adolescents: A New Conceptual and Practical Approach." Greene is director of cognitive-behavioral psychology at the clinical and research program in pediatric psychopharmacology at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor of psychology in the psychiatry department at Harvard Medical School. Greene has appeared on Oprah, Dateline and Good Morning America. Call Bell Training Institute at (518) 781-3713 to register or go to First Coast Community and use keyword: POWER.
